Being on the threshold of the rugged Baviaanskloof Wilderness Area is naturally one of Patensie's best known attractions. From here you can set out on day trips to enjoy the scenery, the rich and varied flora and the variety of fauna, ranging from buffalo to antelope to lizards and ant-lions. On the way to the Baviaanskloof, do not forget to stop and see "Queen Victoria's bust" at Andrieskraal, make a side trip to the Kouga Dam which supplies most of Port Elizabeth's water, watch for fish eagles or kingfishers in the brooding Grootrivierpoort. In Cambria stop and visit the Baviaanskloof Information Centre to get better informed before entering the kloof itself.
Remember that about 30 km of the road through the wilderness area is impassible for cars. If you do not have a 4x4 you should not attempt this. We can arrange day trips for you in such a case or we can organise a full tour of the Baviaanskloof with your car being ferried by road to Willowmore where it will await you. Jeffrey's Bay, St Francis Bay, Humansdorp and Cape St Francis are easy day trips from Patensie and Port Elizabeth, with all its attractions is also within easy reach. Contact Aviance Guest House Please contact your hosts Michiel and Ria Kritzinger to make an enquiry about availability, a booking or anything else with which they may be able to assist you.
